Real exam — How the test works
Part of the questions are authored from the manuals of the official citizenship course (IFC Camorino, ed. 09.2025) — the syllabus the test is built on. The rest come from official and public civic sources (Switzerland in Brief, USTAT, ti.ch) and, for the federal part, from other Swiss cantons' official questions, translated into Italian. The canton publishes neither the questions, nor the question count, pass mark or duration of the real test, and the course manuals do not state them either: these values are our estimates. These are not the real Ticino test questions.
The interview
The municipality may summon the candidate for a hearing/interview before the municipal commission (or the legislative body): it is an assessment of INTEGRATION — discretionary, not standardised, varying from municipality to municipality — NOT a knowledge exam. Civic knowledge is checked only in writing (the IFC Camorino exam, whose syllabus is the citizenship course manuals; LCit art. 16 cpv. 3); the right to be heard (LCit art. 34) remains guaranteed in any case.
